We are fighting for a better, fairer, and brighter future for Stephenson County: rolling up our sleeves, empowering grassroots voters, and organizing everywhere to take our country back: locally and beyond.
Support our efforts by attending our “Force of Nature” Spring Fundraiser on April 22 at the Freeport Art Museum!
This is your first opportunity to meet and greet the candidates running for both local and national seats. They will need volunteers on every level to get elected. Take advantage of a more individualized experience with the candidates with $100 leadership level ticket! Tickets are also available at the $50 and $25 tiers.
Call 815-801-5760 for more information or to purchase your tickets. We'll deliver your ticket to you before the event if possible. This will afford you the maximum time to enjoy the event.
If you can’t attend but would still like to support our efforts, we would be happy to accept your donation of any amount. Our event is going to be an exciting evening! Enjoy an Earth Day-inspired wine and mocktails and light appetizers in a wonderful location, all while perusing the Silent Auction items and meeting our candidates.
We hope to see you on Friday, April 22nd!
Chandra Morris, candidate for Vici Otte's position of County Clerk and Recorder was at work on the fifth floor of the Stewart Center Friday afternoon. She reported her entire office could see us coming, as we walked over from the Stephenson County Democrats' office, as a group to file candidate petitions.
Chandra joined us and at 3:05 pm, she was the first in line to submit her packet, containing almost 500 signatures. She only needed 33 to get on the ballot! Six County Board candidates, along with one additional one that will file on Monday, joined Chandra.
Attorney Karla Niemann will also be submitting her packet in Springfield on Monday. She is running for retiring Judge Bald's position for the 15th Circuit Court Judge. Monday is the last day to file in the State of Illinois.
Along with Chandra, Karla, and seven County Board Candidates, there were 17 Precinct Committee Persons that filed to represent their Precincts. Altogether, this represents a record number of Democrats submitting their names to be on the June 28th Primary Ballot.
We thank everyone in the public that signed petitions, or that were circulators collecting signatures or that helped with notarizing and overview. We especially thank those that have stepped up to be candidates. They are representing how Democracy works and are truly an inspiration to all of us. It was a great day in Freeport!
